What You'll Do

We're looking for a Senior Associate, RFP to lead the development and improvement of RFPs, RFIs, DDQs, and consultant database content that supports Principal Asset Management's growth and retention goals. This role serves as a strategic partner across proposal execution, content management, and investment product support. 

As a senior individual contributor, the Senior Associate will collaborate with investment, product, distribution, compliance, legal, operations, and data teams to deliver high-quality, client-focused content. This role will serve as the proposal and content lead for an assigned asset class, driving consistency, strengthening messaging, and supporting business development efforts, while using technology and AI-enabled tools for process improvements. While this role does not have direct management responsibilities, it provides leadership through expertise, mentorship, and relationship management. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the creation and delivery of complex RFPs, RFIs, DDQs, and consultant database submissions. 
  • Serve as the content lead for an assigned asset class, ensuring accurate, compliant, and competitive messaging. 
  • Maintain and improve content resources through ongoing reviews, updates, and new content development. 
  • Conduct first-level peer reviews and provide feedback to improve response quality and consistency. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned investment capabilities, sharing insights on products, industry trends, and positioning. 
  • Partner with investment professionals and business stakeholders to develop clear and compelling client-facing content. 
  • Use content management, proposal, and AI-enabled platforms to improve efficiency, scalability, and content quality. 
  • Lead multiple projects while presenting priorities, timelines, and risks. 
  • Contribute to team development through mentoring, knowledge sharing, process improvements, and special initiatives.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in investment management, finance, marketing, communications, or a related business field. 
  • 5 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, preferably in an RFP, content management, product management, or client solutions role within an asset management firm. 
  • Strong understanding of investment concepts and the asset management industry, with the ability to translate complex information into client-focused content. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex proposals, content initiatives, and competing priorities while delivering high-quality work. 
  • Experience supporting institutional investment strategies and developing expertise across investment products and asset classes. 
  • Experience with proposal and content management platforms such as Responsive, Loopio, Qvidian, RocketDocs, or similar systems. 
  • Ability to build effective partnerships and collaborate across all levels of the organization. 
  • May require fingerprinting with Principal Funds Distributor. 

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out  

  • Experience using AI and technology solutions to improve proposal development, content management, and operational efficiency. 
  • CFA®, CAIA®, CIMA®, CFP®, FINRA licenses, or other industry designations are a plus. 

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$84600 - $152400 / year
Salary Details

The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across different geographies. 

  • Des Moines, IA: $89,300 - $120,650 / year
  • Charlotte, NC: $94,000 - $127,000 / year
  • Chicago, IL/Denver, CO: $103,400 - $139,700 / year 
  • New York/Seattle: $112,800 - $152,400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
