Location - Princeton Public Schools

Reports to: Community Education Director


40 hours per week

Salary:$26.20-$29.05 per hour

Purpose of Position:
The Tiger Club Childcare Specialist provides leadership and oversight for Princeton Community Education's preschool and school-age care (Tiger Club) programs at the Princeton Family Center, Princeton Primary and Intermediate Elementary school sites, and assigned summer program locations. This position is responsible for program development, daily operations, staff supervision, communication, outreach, and ensuring high-quality programming that supports children, families, and staff.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program Development

    • Lead quality assurance efforts at assigned sites, including establishing site goals, conducting evaluations, and recommending continuous improvements.
    • Design, implement, and evaluate preschool and school-age care programming based on current research and best practices.
    • Develop and update program resources, including family handbooks, staff policies and procedures, registration materials, and marketing publications.
    • Coordinate and analyze parent satisfaction surveys and implement program improvements based on feedback.
    • Ensure site-specific emergency and crisis response plans are developed and maintained.

    Program Management & Operations

    • Coordinate annual school-year and summer registration processes, including training staff on registration procedures.
    • Collaborate with the Billing Secretary and Site Coordinators to monitor parent accounts and assist with fee collection.
    • Complete monthly account reconciliations and review bi-weekly payroll records for assigned sites.
    • Assist the Community Education Director in developing and monitoring annual operating budgets.
    • Attend Parent Advisory Council meetings and provide presentations as requested.
    • Oversee the volunteer application, screening, and placement process.
    • Support Site Coordinators and families in addressing student behavior concerns.
    • Monitor program operations to ensure compliance with district policies, licensing requirements, and program standards.

    Communication & Community Relations

    • Communicate district, department, and program information to staff in a timely and consistent manner.
    • Maintain positive working relationships with families, school administrators, district staff, Community Education personnel, and Tiger Club employees.
    • Review and support the development of monthly family newsletters and other program communications.
    • Provide regular updates and recommendations to the Community Education Director.

    Staff Leadership & Supervision

    • Participate in the interviewing and hiring of Site Coordinators.
    • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Site Coordinators.
    • Support Site Coordinators in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating program staff.
    • Coordinate and encourage ongoing professional development opportunities for staff.
    • Approve staffing plans and assigned work hours for each program site.
    • Conduct regular site visits and staff meetings to provide coaching, monitor program quality, and support continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, School-Age Care, or a related field.
      • Minimum of five years of management and supervisory experience.
      • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Demonstrated technology and computer proficiency.
      • Experience with quality assessment and continuous program improvement.
      • Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing staff.
      • Experience facilitating training for adult learners.
      • Willingness to obtain and maintain CPI and/or CPR/First Aid certification as required.
      • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
      • Ability to maintain regular attendance and perform all essential job responsibilities, including working on-site at assigned program locations


Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience managing multiple program sites.
    • Strong background in customer service and conflict resolution.
    • Experience planning and delivering professional development for large groups.


Additional Information

  • Must be willing and able to work in the following conditions: busy, with constant interruptions
  • Must have a valid driver’s license where travel among the district buildings and outside of district occurs on a regular basis
  • Ability to perform the following actions: sitting, standing, using hands dexterously, talking, hearing, lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, reaching, stooping, bending, crouching, walking.
