Princeton Day School is seeking a Lower School Kindergarten Assistant Teacher beginning in the 2026-27 school year. Under the general supervision of the Head of the Lower School and specific supervision of the Kindergarten Classroom Teachers, the Lower School Assistant Teacher's primary responsibility is to support academic and social skills instruction. As directed by the Head of the Lower School, the assistant will assume the role of the classroom teacher in their absence.

For This Position, The Ideal Candidate Is Expected To
- Work in partnership with the Kindergarten teaching team in the planning and implementation of the educational program.
- Work with students in large groups, small groups, and individually for differentiated instruction.
- Assist in the management of student behavior in a variety of settings.
- Utilize Responsive Classroom approach in classroom management and instruction.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, parents, and other PDS community members.
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians.
- Assist with other duties or assignments as appointed by the Head of Lower School.
- Full-time, academic calendar year position; 8 hours daily, Monday through Friday
- Daily schedule is 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (except during the weeks of duty assignments)
- Attend divisional, grade level, and all-school faculty meetings, which may take place before or after the above daily scheduled hours
- Classroom assignment is at the discretion of the Division Head and will be determined by enrollment.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Experience working with young children (ages 4-10) required
- Familiarity and experience with Early Childhood growth and development strongly preferred
- Has an organized approach to managing materials, tasks, and time
- Comfortable with using technology and learning new platforms
