TITLE: CHIEF PROGRAM OPERATIONS OFFICER

REPORTS TO: President & CEO

LOCATION: 158 Millbrook Road, Blairstown, NJ 07825/5% Remote

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt


SUMMARY

The Chief Program & Operations Officer (CPOO) is a strategic thought-partner and actively engaged leader accountable for the overall direction, management, and oversight of all Blairstown Campus programs. The Princeton-Blairstown Center (PBC) program model includes year-round partnerships with schools, community-based organizations, and university partners. The CPOO is responsible for the establishment, coordination, and performance of a broad range of experiential, adventure-based, and environmental education programs at the Blairstown Campus including the oversight of PBC’s core programs; Summer Bridge, Leader-in-Training, and Venture Out, as well as general and traditional programming.


The CPOO plays a critical role in partnering with the Executive Leadership Team in strategic decision making and operations as PBC continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. This position works closely with the President & CEO and the Chief Facility Operations Officer to develop a long-range plan and vision for the Blairstown Campus.


The CPOO is a member of the Blairstown Leadership Team and is expected to physically be present on campus, equitably sharing management responsibilities with the DOL and DOP, including round-the-clock coverage.


MAJOR DUTIES

·       Directly hire and oversee the Blairstown Leadership Team consisting of the Director of Operations, Director of Programs, Program Managers, Operations Manager, and the Food Service Manager.

·       Manage the program budget to ensure that financial and revenue goals are met.

·       Develop a comprehensive and creative marketing plan to recruit and retain schools, youth development organizations, universities, and corporate groups and increase year-round occupancy.

·       Develop, administer, evaluate, and improve PBC’s programs and curriculum.

·       Develop and foster a mission driven culture that develops and retains high-performing program staff.

·       Invest in the ongoing growth and development of current staff.

·       Oversee seasonal staff hiring, training, and onboarding.

·       Promote practices that lead to environmental stewardship and sustainability.

·       Oversee curriculum, including mapping to State and Federal standards and ensuring delivery of programs and activities appropriate to the participant population.

·       Oversee the development and implementation of crisis and risk management procedures including in-service training to minimize risk and develop staff.

·       In collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team, plan and run the annual Woodcutters Weekend and any other volunteer projects.

·       Remain current on the development needs of youth, camping, experiential education, ropes and challenge course management/use, and environmental education.

·       Ensure reliable evaluation tools are utilized to make continuous program improvements.

·       Oversee the daily operation of the Blairstown Campus including food service, program, business, waterfront, participant and staff supervision, and health care.


QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor’s degree in business management, education, or related field.

·       At least 8-10 years of previous management experience in areas such as youth development, programs, teaching, and people management, in increasingly responsible supervisory positions.

·       Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency.

·       Experience with marketing and managing budgets to maximize efficiency.

·       A successful track record in setting priorities and a multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.

·       Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·       Must be able to work extended hours, occasional weekends, holidays, and travel to the Princeton office as needed.

·       Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment.

·       Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, professionalism, a commitment to lead by example, and dedication to the mission of Princeton-Blairstown Center.

·       Ability to effectively manage a variety of concurrent and varying activities.

·       First Aid, CPR, ARC Lifeguard, WFR certification required within introductory (6-month) period; EMT and lifeguard trainer certification preferred.

·       Willing to live on-site full time or within fifteen minutes of campus and be on call for emergencies.

·       Able to lift up to 25 lbs.

·       Must have a valid driver’s license.


Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
