Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation (PWSAC) is a private, nonprofit hatchery association founded in 1974 to help optimize Alaska's wild salmon resources. For more than 50 years, PWSAC has played a critical role in supporting sustainable salmon production for commercial, sport, personal use, and subsistence fisheries throughout the Prince William Sound and Copper River regions.

About the Role

The Finance & Accounting Director manages the organization's financial operations, including accounting, budget administration and monitoring, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls to ensure fiscal integrity and transparency. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this senior leadership position provides strategic financial guidance while managing cash flow, investments, audits, and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do

• Manage all accounting and financial reporting functions
• Administration of annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Monitor organizational financial performance and cash flow
• Oversee audits, regulatory compliance, tax reporting, and internal controls
• Manage investments, reserves, debt obligations, and insurance oversight
• Present financial reports and recommendations to leadership and the Board
• Supervise accounting staff and foster continued professional development
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and operational efficiency

What We're Looking For

• Proven leadership experience in accounting, finance, or financial management
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
• Experience managing audits, regulatory compliance, and organizational risk
• Ability to translate complex financial information into actionable insights for executives and boards
• Experience leading and developing professional staff
• Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Experience with nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, investments, or board reporting is highly desirable
• A collaborative leader who thrives in a mission-driven environment

Compensation & Benefits

Starting salary begins at $127,004.80 annually, with final compensation based on qualifications and experience.
