Assistant Principal Washington-Reid Preschool

This position may assist the principal in providing administrative and instructional leadership within a generally autonomous elementary school building for the maximum educational nurture of all students. This position may include coordination of all personnel connected with the school and school system. This position may assist in supervising and monitoring student needs and enforcing the Code of Behavior. The position may assist in supervising after school and evening activities. Early childhood experience, preferred.

Salary Range: $95,413 - $154,665 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package

Essential Responsibilities - specific to this job

• Assumes responsibility for the administration of the school in the absence of the principal

• Assists in planning and carrying out programs of instruction

• Selects and procures instructional materials

• Assists the principal with the evaluation of personnel

• Assists with the selection and assigning of personnel to ensure the best utilization of their e experience and skills

• Counsels and confers with students, teachers, parents

• Aids and assists the principal with preparation of written reports

• Participates in an effective program of school-community interaction

• Assists in the planning and implementation of building in-service programs, grade level meetings and faculty meetings

• Coordinates the testing program as assigned

• Assists in curriculum revision and implementation

• Works to maintain discipline as assigned by the building principal

• Coordinates a variety of extracurricular activities

• Assists with other duties including maintenance of inventories of all school equipment, schedule development, school bus coordination, supervision of fire drill procedure, preparation of activity calendar, preparation of committee assignments, coordination of work will colleges, coordination of parent/school organization requirements, and many others

• Knowledgeable of the instructional process, public relations, school finance, school law, personnel management, administration, supervision, curriculum and educational processes.

• Demonstrate leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, teachers and parents

Education Requirement

Master's degree and earned a Pupil Personnel or Postgraduate Professional License

Work Experience Requirements

Three years of successful, full-time experience as a teacher, administrator, or supervisor

One year of work in the area or at the level supervised

Certification/License Requirements

Required: Virginia teaching certification; Admin & Supervision PreK-12 endorsement.

If a current VA Postgraduate Professional License is not currently held, the candidate must hold a reciprocal out-of-state certification with a comparable Administration and Supervision PreK-12 endorsement
