About This Role:
- Demonstrate your research skills by leading a work program associated with validating special use permit approvals and nonconforming uses.
- Process various Zoning Administration Division applications, that include researching Zoning Ordinance regulations, proffered conditions, special use permit conditions and issuing appealable zoning determinations.
- Assist your colleagues and the general public by answering zoning questions and providing information about processes and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 6 years of related experience.
Preferences:
- Minimum of six years of experience working in zoning, planning, or a related field.
- Knowledge of the principles and concepts of planning, zoning, and land use.
- Experience interpreting zoning ordinance regulations, proffered conditions, special use permit conditions and land use applications.
- Competent with technical writing and experience writing zoning determination letters.
- Customer service experience related to explaining regulations, processes and procedures resulting in community education/outreach.
- Direct experience with local government is a plus
- Virginia Association of Zoning Officials (VAZO) Certification.
Work Schedule:
This position works a standard Monday-Friday schedule, working 37.5 hours per week. This position can telework 1-2 days per week after an initial probationary period.
-This is a telework-eligible position that may revert to in-office scheduling if business needs change.

Starting Salary Range: $76,069.50 - $94,541.49
