The Prince George’s County Department of Health is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Social Worker (Social Worker 3A), grade A24 position, in the Behavioral Health Division.
About The Position
This is advanced senior/lead level professional social work performed to address the mental health/psychiatric/psychosocial needs of target populations (e.g., infants, youth, adults, seniors) using the social work care process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Incumbents provide a variety of professional social work care services to a diverse range of clients, patients, families and groups from diverse cultural backgrounds. Such services promote psychological awareness and the general welfare of target populations.

The PGCHD works to protect and support the public’s health through numerous services that range from restaurant inspections and disease tracking to care coordination and health promotion. The department is composed of four divisions: Behavioral Health Services, Environmental Health and Disease Control, Family Health Services, and Health and Wellness, supported by the Office of Administration, Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Health Officer. The mandate of the department has been, and will remain, broad. This plan emphasizes improving core functions and operations, including protecting the public from health threats, implementing strategies to support healthy living, and maintaining a focus on vulnerable populations, while developing efficient internal processes to support these activities.

Examples of Work
- Coordinate reentry clinical services.
- Provide effective case management.
- Screen and refer clients to community-based services.
- Maintain records in EPIC for each client.
- Communicate with necessary internal and external partners.
- Represent the Health Department within DOC settings and through collaboration with community partners.
- Facilitate psychoeducation groups.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university or equivalent program as determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners with a master's degree in social work.
- Two (2) years Post Masters experience providing social work services.
- Possession of a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) certified by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners at time of appointment.
- Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle when required for the performance of job-related duties at time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working with justice-involved individuals or in a related setting.
- Certification in delivering the Level of Services/Case Management Inventory (LS/CMI).
- Experience using an electronic database.
- Experience working with community-based agencies/organizations to access resources/services for returning citizens.
- LCPC: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.
- LGPC: Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor.
- LCADC: Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
- LGADC: Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
- LCSW-C: Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical.
- LCSW: Licensed Certified Social Worker.
- LMSW: Licensed Masters Social Worker.
- LCP: Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
