The Prince George’s County Administrative Charging Committee is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Investigator 2G, grade G18 position, in the Administrative Charging Committee.

About The Position

This is a full-performance civilian investigator position with the Administrative Charging Committee (ACC). This incumbent is responsible for inspectional and investigative work, gathering and/or generating accurate, complete, and comprehensive evidence and information used for thorough reviews of police misconduct investigations referred to the ACC for disposition. A significant aspect of the work involves extensive and critical contact with the general public. At this leave, work is performed under general supervision. Accountability Statement: The incumbent in this position is authorized to carry out those duties and responsibilities in accordance with the established performance standards and is subject to reporting and justifying task outcomes to those above him/her in the Department's chain of command. The incumbent in this position treats all information, administrative or operational, as strictly confidential, not to be disseminated in any form unless expressly authorized. The incumbent in the position is deemed "essential personnel" and is subject to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate.

About The Agency

The Administrative Charging Committee (ACC) serves to improve the disciplinary process of law enforcement officers to include independent assessments of citizen-driven police misconduct-related complaints. The goal of the ACC and the trial boards will be to develop uniformity, fairness, and transparency in disciplinary sanctions against officers found guilty of misconduct thereby increasing overall accountability and the community’s trust in the process.

Examples of Work

  • Researches and secures confidential and sensitive documentary evidence for cases, including but not limited to medical and police reports.
  • Participates, as requested, in interviews, conducted by the ACC members including interviewing of complainants, respondents, and witnesses and prepares reports of interviews for submission or presentation to the ACC.
  • Researches and secures confidential and sensitive documentary evidence for cases, including but not limited to medical and police reports.
  • Submits written investigative reports to the ACC that includes synopses, statements of witnesses, evidence, applicable policies, related analysis, findings, etc,. that are thorough, concise, factual, logical, and grammatically correct and create an investigative summary in accordance with the required policies, procedures, and timeline.
  • Prepares and submits written correspondence/documents (drafts, statement of charges, findings of facts, orders, consent agreements, assurances of discontinuance, and other documents) in order to resolve cases or to promote/accomplish goals, missions, and objectives in order to resolve cases characteristic of the agency.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in programs involving investigative and social relations skills such as criminology, law enforcement, business or public administration, one of the social sciences or related fields.
  • Experience which has provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the Investigator II level.
  • A valid Maryland State driver's license is required upon appointment.

Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internal affairs experience.
  • Certificate of training completion in Internal Affairs.
  • Previous law enforcement experience.
