The Prince George’s County Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM) is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Program Support Assistant (Human Resources Assistant 3G) position, Grade G17, in the Background and Compliance Division.


About the Position

This is the senior/lead performance level of paraprofessional human resources administrative work designed to assist professional level human resources analysts within the Office of Human Resources Management’s Background and Compliance Division. The employee supports background screening, pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing, procurement activities, and general divisional operations. Work requires independent judgment, organization, attention to detail, and strict confidentiality.

  • Reviews and processes program requests and supporting documents. 
  • Maintains tracking systems, calendars, records, and confidential files. 

  • Responds to routine inquiries from applicants, employees, agencies, and vendors. 

  • Prepares and proofreads correspondence, reports, notices, and presentations. 

  • Assists with updating forms, procedures, guides, and administrative processes. 

  • Monitors assignments, deadlines, and outstanding program actions. 

  • Supports pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol testing activities. 

  • Processes purchasing transactions and maintains office supply inventories. 

  • Coordinates administrative activities with divisional staff and external partners. 

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources/Personnel Management, Organizational Development, Business/Public Administration, Psychology, or closely related field
  • One (1) year of experience providing technical human resources support in the areas of recruitment, classification and compensation, benefits administration, employee relations or pensions and investments; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates may also demonstrate the preferred qualifications listed below:
  • Experience providing administrative or paraprofessional support in a background investigation, compliance, medical, or public-sector environment. 
  • Experience reviewing forms and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness. 
  • Experience maintaining confidential personnel, medical, or applicant records. 
  • Experience using tracking systems, spreadsheets, databases, and shared electronic files. 
  • Experience preparing and proofreading correspondence, reports, notices, and presentations. 
  • Experience processing purchase requests, invoices, purchase-card transactions, or other procurement documents. 
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize deadlines, and work independently. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication, customer-service, and organizational skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. 
  • Experience using SAP or a similar financial or procurement system.

Conditions of Employment:  Upon selection, the candidate must:

  • Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. 
  • Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, if applicable.
  • Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings, where applicable.
  • Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. This position is designated as essential. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.

Salary : $62,380 - $84,660
