The Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Maintenance Services Attendant III (Maintenance Services Attendant 3A) grade A13 position, in the Facilities Operation and Management Division.
About the Position
Prince George's County Office of Central Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill Maintenance Services Attendant III, grade A-13, within its Facilities Operation and Management Division. This position may work in various County facilities, including correctional facility. This is an essential position.
This is a lead/supervisory work within the skilled craft occupational category, which is characterized by the performance of skilled and manual work. The selected individual leads/supervises the work of a crew of skilled crafts and labor positions in the accomplishment of a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the trade occupations (e.g. plumbing, general carpentry, electrical, painting, etc.) Work is performed under general supervision and evaluated by the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor in accordance with departmental policies and regulations.

The Office of Central Services is a multifaceted agency of the Prince George’s County Government providing government-wide, mission critical support services in the areas of facilities operations and management, building design & construction, real estate services, fleet management, and general services. We make government operations operate better for the government.- Performs and leads the preventive maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing or electrical systems within county-owned and leased buildings.
- Reports all major equipment failures and problems.
- Reviews and responds to work orders.
- Ensures assignments are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with Departmental rules and regulations.
- Monitors the use, operation and inventory of equipment and supplies assigned to the crew.
- Establishes workplans and schedules for lower-level Maintenance Services Attendants and/or Trades Helpers as it relates to performing preventive maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing or electrical systems.
- Ensures compliance of administrative rules, measures and security regulations at all times.
- Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration:
- Completion of high school or vocational school.
- Responsible experience in the general maintenance trades work at the full performance level.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with no more than six (6) points.
- Must be willing to respond to emergency service called on a 24-hour basis.
- Good physical condition.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience performing repair and maintenance work on plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
- One (1) year of lead/supervisory level experience.

Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings.
- Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. This is an essential position. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
Salary : $50,500 - $68,534
