Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and mission-driven Assistant Director to join our leadership team. The Assistant Director works closely with the School Director to oversee daily school operations, lead and develop teaching staff, and ensure a high-quality experience for every child and family. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves early childhood education and is ready to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the School Director in all aspects of school operations, including enrollment, staffing, and family communication
- Provide daily supervision, coaching, and mentorship to classroom teachers and staff
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing professional development of team members
- Step in as acting director in the School Director's absence
- Maintain compliance with Minnesota childcare licensing regulations and Primrose brand standards
- Build and nurture strong relationships with enrolled families and prospective families
- Monitor and support classroom quality, curriculum implementation, and child assessments
- Assist with scheduling, payroll, and administrative functions as needed
- Help manage health, safety, and emergency protocols across the school
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a licensed early childhood setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead teacher role
- Knowledge of Minnesota childcare licensing requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff, families, and community
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain)
- Genuine passion for early childhood education and child development

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
