This role plays a critical part in ensuring worker safety by maintaining the integrity and compliance of high-voltage PPE used in electrical operations.
Position Expectations:
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with fusion equipment
- Operate glove testing equipment, maintaining calibration of testing devices.
- Operate fusion equipment, ensuring proper alignment and adherence to specifications.
- Document test results accurately and maintain detailed records to meet safety standards of the company, OSHA, ASTM, and NAIL.
- Assist with inventory management of glove and fusion equipment.
- Sort, label, and package gloves appropriately after testing (pass/fail).
- Remain adaptable in fast-paced or high-volume environments.
- Inventory all dielectric items
- Issue and track dielectric items
- Track calibration dates and provide reports to division managers
- Schedule glove change outs with division managers
- Clean, test, and calibrate hot sticks and shotguns
- May be responsible for managing the inventory of fusion equipment, including check-in/check-out procedures.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with fusion equipment.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft programs-WORD, XCEL, etc.
- Other duties and special projects, as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical skills, proficiency using hand tools, fusion equipment, and pipe joining techniques.
- Knowledge of safety protocols.
- Prior experience in a utility, safety equipment, or testing environment is preferred.
- Minimum 1 years of experience in pipefitting or fusing in the gas utility industry.
- Strong attention to detail and good organization skills.
- Must be able to work in a lab environment with exposure to high voltage testing equipment.
