What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at Primo Waterfront?
Italian seafood concept opening our patio for the Spring Summer season on the Newburgh Waterfront, from the team behind Heritage Food Drink. Italian cuisine experience/High volume experience is a huge plus!
We are looking for experienced servers to join us for this Spring and Summer season. We are a full service, high volume restaurant with 180 waterfront dining seats on the patio, two full service bars (one inside & one outside), 65 seats inside, with a 30 seat private dining room. The restaurant was custom built from the ground up and just opened last December, everything is still brand new! We are seeking employees who enjoy the hospitality business and are looking to further their hospitality career. There is lots of room for growth!
Primary Functions:
- Establish and maintain the restaurants standards of service.
- Help patrons select food and beverages by presenting menu; offering cocktails and aperitifs; suggesting courses; explaining the chef's specialties; identifying appropriate wines; answering food preparation questions
- Welcome guests in a proper manner
- Prepare bar dining/drinking by setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
- Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
- Take food/beverage orders from patrons. Transmits orders to bar and kitchen by recording patrons' choices; identifying patrons' special dietary needs and special requests.
- Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression.
- Respond to additional patron requirements by inquiring of needs; observing dining process.
- Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
- Conclude dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant; inviting patrons to return.
- Deal with complaints or problems with a positive attitude. Promptly address customer service issues and refer customers to management when necessary.
- Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, etc.
- Properly open and pour wine.
- Extensive wine, beer and spirits knowledge is required.
- Obtains revenues by totaling charges; issuing bill; accepting payment; delivering bill and payment to host person; returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons.
- Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
- Fill in for absent staff as needed.
- Assist with special events as needed.
