Field Technician – Drop Bury (Telecommunications)
Location: Elizabeth City, NC (and surrounding areas)
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Some Saturdays required
- Overtime available in approved situations
Pay Structure
- Entry-Level Technicians (Training Required):
$17.00 – $20.00 per hour (based on experience and skill set)
- Fully Trained / Experienced Technicians:
$23.00 – $25.00 per hour (based on experience and skill set)
Job Description
We are currently hiring Field Technicians – Drop Bury for telecommunications work in the Elizabeth City, NC area. This position involves burying fiber optic and copper lines for residential and commercial installations. We offer on-the-job training for entry-level candidates and competitive pay for experienced technicians.
This is a hands-on, outdoor position ideal for individuals who enjoy physical work, problem-solving, and working independently in the field.
Responsibilities
- Bury fiber optic and copper lines a minimum of 6 inches underground
- Operate and learn to operate:
- Vibratory plow
- Boring equipment for driveways and roadways (training provided)
- Perform manual labor including digging, trenching, and site restoration
- Troubleshoot field issues and resolve problems efficiently
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Travel to job sites as required
Requirements
- Reliable transportation
- Preferred: Working truck (tow capabilities are a plus) or a working van
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to perform physical labor (digging, trenching, lifting)
- Comfortable working outside in all elements
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Willingness to travel (a plus)
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
