SUMMARY OVERVIEW
The Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing truck mounted equipment to meet both industry standards and client needs. This role requires strong analytical skills to assess product specifications and functionality, along with a proficiency in Inventor and AutoCAD software and engineering principles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and sales to ensure the engineering solutions are feasible and cost-effective. Continuous improvement initiatives and adherence to safety regulations are essential duties, as the Engineer will also be tasked with troubleshooting and resolving engineering issues that arise during manufacturing and testing phases.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop truck mounted equipment using Inventor and AutoCAD software and engineering principles
- Design, analyze, and improve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Develop new products from concept through production.
- Perform engineering calculations, design analysis, and product validation.
- Optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
- Coordinate prototype fabrication, testing, and product validation.
- Develop test procedures and evaluate product performance.
- Investigate product failures and implement corrective design improvements.
- Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Collaborate with manufacturing to resolve production and assembly issues.
- Work closely with production, procurement, quality, sales, service, and suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Prepare engineering documentation, specifications, manuals, and technical reports.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, service, and customers.
- Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, regulations, and company quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
- Must hold a valid driver's license.
- Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- 2–5 years of mechanical design experience in manufacturing or heavy equipment.
- Proficient in engineering design software – 3D and 2D (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred)
- Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Two (2 ) years of engineering experience in manufacturing environment or,
- Two (2 ) years of engineering experience in automotive design related field or,
- Two (2 ) years of engineering experience in vocational truck assembly.
- Ability to identify complex build challenges and implement solutions quickly and correctly.
- Ability to weld.
- Ability to understand 12V electrical systems.
- Ability to understand hydraulic plumbing systems.
- Intermediate/Highly proficient Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Fluent in English and Spanish required
- Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
- Pass a background check and drug screen
- Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable).
- Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
