Senior Cloud Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join our growing technology team in Wilmington. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled cloud professional to design, implement, and optimize secure, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions that support enterprise applications and digital transformation initiatives.
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will collaborate with software engineers, DevOps specialists, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity professionals, and business stakeholders to build and maintain modern cloud platforms across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. You will play a key role in cloud migration projects, infrastructure automation, platform modernization, and cloud security while ensuring operational excellence and business continuity.
The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in cloud architecture, automation, infrastructure management, and DevOps practices, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise cloud infrastructure using Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Bicep, ARM Templates, or similar technologies.
- Build secure, scalable, and highly available cloud environments that support business-critical workloads.
- Configure and manage cloud networking, virtual machines, storage, identity services, and cloud security controls.
- Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives for enterprise applications and infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.
- Deploy, manage, and optimize containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Monitor cloud performance, system health, security, and resource utilization using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Implement backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and cloud governance strategies.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis to improve platform reliability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, cloud architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Mentor junior cloud engineers and promote engineering best practices across the technology team.
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements that enhance scalability, security, performance, and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Significant experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or enterprise cloud platform management.
- Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Hands-on experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, ARM Templates, or similar tools.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native technologies.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps methodologies, and deployment automation.
- Experience with cloud networking, virtual private clouds, identity and access management, VPNs, load balancing, and security best practices.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages for infrastructure automation.
- Experience using monitoring and observability platforms such as Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
- Strong understanding of cloud governance, compliance, disaster recovery, and cost optimization strategies.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Google Professional Cloud Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
