We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Escrow Officer to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Manage the escrow process from opening to closing, ensuring all steps adhere to underwriting guidelines and legal requirements
- Conduct comprehensive title searches and review title records, public records, and legal descriptions to verify property ownership and encumbrances
- Prepare and review real estate documentation including deeds, easements, legal descriptions, and other transaction-related paperwork
- Coordinate with title companies, attorneys, surveyors, and other stakeholders using real estate transaction management software and mapping software such as GIS tools
- Perform research on title issues or discrepancies by examining public records and title history to resolve potential conflicts or liens
- Ensure compliance with all legal standards related to real estate law and underwriting guidelines during the title review process
- Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates on transaction status, answer questions, and facilitate smooth closing procedures
Experience
- Proven experience working as an Escrow Officer or in a law office specializing in real estate transactions
- Strong knowledge of real estate law, title search procedures, easements, legal descriptions, and public records management
- Familiarity with real estate documentation review and title processing using industry-standard software
- Excellent research skills for investigating title records and resolving discrepancies efficiently
- Ability to adhere strictly to underwriting guidelines while maintaining high levels of customer service during client interactions
- Experience working with law offices or in environments requiring detailed legal descriptions and complex documentation review is highly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for document preparation and communication purposes
