About the Role

We're seeking a dynamic, hands-on Process Engineer to join our Elkhart production facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role blends technical drafting with manufacturing process improvement: you'll create and maintain the AutoCAD drawings and production prints that guide our van and shuttle conversions, while also owning the processes, work instructions, and continuous improvement initiatives that keep our production floor running safely, efficiently, and at a high level of quality.

This is a floor-based role for someone who wants to lead from the front — spending real time with production associates, solving problems where they happen, and building toward a plant leadership track.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise AutoCAD drawings, vehicle layouts, and production prints for van and shuttle conversions
• Develop floorplans and design documentation to support new builds and custom conversions
• Review specifications and customer requirements for accuracy prior to production release
• Work directly with production associates daily to resolve design, fitment, and process questions on the floor
• Develop, design, and communicate manufacturing processes, and own the resulting work instructions and scale-up procedures
• Monitor and revise processes to generate cost savings and improve product/process quality and efficiency
• Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma tools, including Kaizen events, root-cause problem solving, and process characterization studies
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment/process issues, coordinating with maintenance, production, and other resources to implement cost-effective solutions
• Coordinate new process installations and process changes on the production floor
• Analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities and track key performance indicators
• Participate in design reviews to improve manufacturability of new and existing products
• Maintain organized drawing files and revision records
• Mentor and train production associates on new processes, drawings, and standard work
• Collaborate closely with plant management to lead the production team, aligning daily floor priorities with broader plant goals

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
• 3-7 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience with AutoCAD required
• Lean Six Sigma Kaizen Leader, Green Belt, or Black Belt preferred

Required Skills

• Ability to read and interpret drawings, measurements, and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to stand, walk, and be on the production floor for extended periods, and occasionally lift/move up to 65 lbs
• Direct leadership of production teams

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Mechanical, manufacturing, automotive, or vehicle upfitting experience
• Experience leading or participating in Kaizen events or other structured continuous improvement initiatives
• SAP or similar ERP system experience
• Demonstrated interest or experience in growing into a plant leadership role

Pay: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
