Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team in Dallas, Oregon. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care across various settings, including acute care, long-term care, assisted living, and community health environments. This role requires a versatile nurse with a strong background in diverse medical disciplines, including critical care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. The LPN will be responsible for patient assessments, administering treatments, and supporting overall patient well-being while adhering to HIPAA and safety standards.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following physician orders and safety protocols.
- Perform IV infusions, catheterizations, phlebotomy, and sterile procedures with aseptic technique.
- Manage airway care, ventilator support, tube feeding, and other complex nursing interventions in acute or chronic settings.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and medical imaging procedures.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory impairments, or behavioral health needs.
- Support discharge planning, case management, and patient education tailored to individual health conditions such as infectious diseases or post-acute recovery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, ICU, PICU, neonatal units, or outpatient clinics to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation compliant with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics like nutrition, pain management, medication administration, and home & community care.
Qualifications
- Valid LPN license in Oregon with current state licensure.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as ICU (Level I & II Trauma Centers), emergency rooms (ER), medical-surgical units, hospice care, or outpatient clinics.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding and CPT coding is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology (including medication administration), infection control practices (including sterile processing), and medical terminology.
- Experience working with special populations such as pediatric patients (neonatal ventilator use), elderly patients (geriatrics), individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Ability to perform complex procedures like spinal taps or cardiac catheterization support; experience with airway management or ventilator support is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for effective triage and patient assessment; compassionate approach to patient-centered care.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as IV insertion or advanced life support are a plus.
