Position Summary
The AVP Cash Management & Deposit Growth is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving deposit growth, enhancing treasury/cash management offerings, and aligning execution across the bank. This role will partner closely with Commercial Banking, Retail Banking, Operations, and Technology to design and implement initiatives that grow low-cost deposits, deepen client relationships, and improve overall product utilization.
Given the bank’s predominantly commercial loan portfolio, this role will play a critical part in strengthening deposit relationships with commercial clients while expanding fee-based and treasury management services.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute a comprehensive deposit growth strategy aligned with the bank’s balance sheet and funding objectives
- Identify opportunities to grow operating deposits, commercial balances, and treasury management revenue
- Analyze deposit trends, pricing strategies, and competitive positioning within the Minnesota market
- Partner with leadership to establish goals, KPIs, and long-term roadmap for cash management and deposit initiatives
Program & Initiative Management
- Lead cross-functional programs designed to drive deposit acquisition, retention, and product adoption
- Prioritize and manage a portfolio of initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and resource capacity
- Track progress against goals and provide regular updates to executive leadership
- Deliver structured execution plans, timelines, and performance metrics
Commercial & Treasury Management Focus
- Partner with Commercial Banking teams to deepen relationships with existing clients and attract new deposit relationships
- Enhance cash management products and services (e.g., ACH, wire, remote deposit capture, liquidity solutions)
- Support the sales process through product expertise, pricing guidance, and solution development; train and administer commercial customers post-sale
- Identify cross-sell opportunities tied to commercial lending relationships
Product & Process Optimization
- Evaluate current treasury management and deposit products; recommend enhancements or new offerings
- Collaborate with Operations and Technology to improve service delivery, onboarding, and client experience
- Streamline processes to improve efficiency and scalability
Data & Performance Management
- Monitor deposit growth, cost of funds, and product performance
- Develop reporting and dashboards to track key metrics and provide actionable insights
- Use data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement
Market & Client Insights
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory considerations
- Gather feedback from clients and internal teams to refine strategy and offerings
Branch Management – Eagan Location (approximately 15%)
- Provide direct leadership and oversight for the Eagan branch, ensuring strong operational performance, customer experience, and alignment with deposit growth goals
- Coach and support branch staff on sales execution, relationship management, operational adherence, and deposit acquisition
- Provide limited, as‑needed backup coverage for teller and platform functions during staff absences, peak volume, or operational necessity.
- May assist with basic transaction processing, account opening or maintenance, and customer support on an intermittent basis only.
- Assist branch team members with questions regarding business and personal online banking enrollment and customer support.
- Order branch and office supplies as needed.
- Support branch security and facilities coordination, including alarm testing, physical security checks, and system access setup for new hires.
- Monitor basic building and equipment needs and coordinate routine maintenance (e.g., HVAC, vendor follow‑up).
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
- 5–10 years of experience in banking, treasury management, commercial banking, or related area
- Demonstrated experience in program/project management with cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of deposit products, cash management services, and commercial client needs
Preferred
- Experience in a community or regional bank environment
- Knowledge of commercial lending and relationship-based banking models
- Familiarity with treasury management systems and digital banking platforms
- PMP or similar certification (a plus)
