What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Laboratory Technologist position at Prime Physicians?
Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist / Technician in Sisseton, SD (any state license is ok)
Place of Work: Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center
Location: 100 Lake Traverse Dr, Sisseton, South Dakota
Start Date: Approximately 2 months
Duration: 6-month contract with potential for up to nine (9) additional 6-month extensions
Shift Hours:
- Weekdays: 8-hour shifts between 7:30 AM 8:30 PM (most common: 11:30 AM 8:00 PM)
- Weekends: 12:00 PM 5:00 PM on a rotational basis
- Contractors must rotate to cover weekends and holidays (5-hour weekend shifts).
How many shifts needed per month: Approximately 20 22 shifts hours per week)
Education:
- Degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology/Science program
Experience needed:
- Minimum 2 years recent clinical lab experience (within last 3 years); EHR proficiency preferred
License: Active, unrestricted license or certification in any U.S. state (ASCP or equivalent national credential accepted)
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association.
Special Skills needed: Venipuncture, QC troubleshooting, analyzer operation (Vitros 5600, CoaguChek, Clinitek Advantus, Abbott ID NOW, Cepheid), documentation, EHR use, and cultural competence.
Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 8 weeks.
Responsibilities: Perform testing across all lab sections; maintain QC and accurate documentation; troubleshoot; participate in PCMH and uphold CLIA/IHS standards; train, report, and ensure patient safety.
