How Many Shifts Needed Per Month: Approximately 20–22 shifts per month (Monday–Friday, excluding federal holidays and authorized closures)
Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6 to 8 weeks
License: Current and valid Medical Laboratory Technician / Medical Technologist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification or license from a nationally recognized credentialing agency OR state licensing body — any qualifying state license accepted

Certifications
- Active MLS/MT/CLS certification from one of the following nationally recognized credentialing bodies:
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) — MLS(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) — MT(AMT)
- National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA) — CLS(NCA)
- OR equivalent state-issued licensure
- BLS Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field — as required to meet national credentialing agency or state licensing body standards for MLS/MT/CLS certification
Special Skills Needed
- Diagnostic testing proficiency: chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, and microbiology
- Laboratory equipment operation, quality control, and calibration
- Phlebotomy and specimen collection, handling, and processing
- EHR documentation — RPMS experience preferred (Government orientation provided)
- Knowledge of CLIA, COLA, OSHA, HIPAA, and biosafety/infection control standards
- Critical result communication and professional clinical judgment
- Inventory management and regulatory compliance support
- Strong patient-facing communication and customer service skills
- Perform and interpret diagnostic laboratory tests in a moderate complexity outpatient setting
- Operate analyzers and equipment; conduct quality control and calibration
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection, handling, and processing
- Document results and patient information in EHR/RPMS
- Communicate critical results to healthcare providers per applicable procedures
- Maintain biosafety, infection control, and regulatory compliance standards
- Manage inventory; support inspections, audits, and compliance activities
- Complete required IHS training, competency assessments, and department meetings
- Comply with HIPAA, Privacy Act, credentialing, background, and Public Law 101-630 requirements
- Submit all post-award documentation within 10 days of award
- Maintain accurate daily timekeeping per IHS requirements
