Special Skills Needed
- Ability to independently manage high-acuity emergency cases
- Proficiency in emergency procedures including airway management, trauma care, cardiac resuscitation, and procedural sedation
- Strong documentation skills using electronic health records
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
- Experience working in hospital-based Emergency Departments
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site Emergency Department physician services to eligible Veterans
- Perform medical screening exams, diagnosis, treatment, stabilization, and disposition of ED patients
- Manage medical, surgical, psychiatric, and traumatic emergencies
- Perform emergency procedures within granted privileges
- Document all patient encounters accurately in the VA electronic health record
- Participate in hand-offs, admissions, transfers, and consultations
- Follow VA policies, Joint Commission standards, and Emergency Medicine professional guidelines
- Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and mandatory training activities
- Ensure continuity of care and patient safety at all times
- This is a non-personal services position (not a federal employee role)
- Providers must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
