The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the nursing department. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and outstanding clinical outcomes.

The DON works closely with the Administrator and interdisciplinary leadership team to build a culture focused on clinical excellence, accountability, teamwork, and compassion.

• Lead, mentor, and inspire the entire nursing team, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.

• Drive exceptional resident care while maintaining the highest clinical standards.

• Ensure compliance with CMS, State, and Federal Regulations.

• Lead Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.

• Oversee staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, and employee engagement.

• Coach, mentor, and develop future nurse leaders.

• Partner with physicians, therapists, department leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve excellent resident outcomes.

• Monitor infection prevention, survey readiness, and regulatory compliance.

• Analyze clinical metrics and implement quality improvement initiatives.

• Manage departmental budgets, supplies, and nursing operations.

• Address resident and family concerns with professionalism, compassion, and urgency.

• Foster a workplace culture built on respect, teamwork, accountability, and excellence.

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina

• 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in Skilled Nursing or Long-Term Care

• Strong knowledge of:

  • CMS Regulations

  • Survey Readiness

  • Infection Prevention

  • Clinical Compliance

  • Quality Improvement (QAPI)

• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

• Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and develop high-performing nursing teams.
