Job Summary:

A busy Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine practice in central Connecticut seeks a Pulmonologist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will specialize in diagnosing and treating diseases of the lungs, respiratory system, and sleep diagnosis including asthma, COPD, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and other complex chest infections. The role involves outpatient care only with light on-call rotation, with 2 years to partnership track.  (J-1 visa holders may apply)

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct patient consultations and review medical histories.
• Perform physical examinations and order diagnostic tests (e.g., chest X-rays, CT scans, pulmonary function tests).
• Diagnose and manage respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer, and sleep apnea.
• Perform procedures such as bronchoscopy.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate with other specialists (e.g., thoracic surgeons, oncologists, respiratory therapists).
• Educate patients and families on disease management and preventive care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Stay current with advancements in pulmonology and participate in continuing education.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine.
• Board certification (or eligibility) in Pulmonary Disease.
• Valid and unrestricted medical license.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with critical care and/or sleep medicine (if applicable).
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Research or teaching experience is a plus.
