The Activity Assistant assists in planning, organizing, and implementing activity programs that meet the physical, emotional, social and recreational needs of residents. This role supports residents' engagement, encourages participation, and helps maintain a warm, positive and supportive environment throughout the facility.
Duties and Responsibility:
Observe and record resident attendance, participation level, Mood, behavior and overall engagement during activities.
Note, report, and chart resident behavior and progress according to facility procedures.
Communicate with resident and family members to understand interests, preferences, and goal for activity planning.
Assist in Planning and Implementing daily activity programs under the director of the Activity Director.
Coordinate activities with other departments as needed to ensure smooth scheduling and participation.
Encourage residents to join activities, games, crafts and social events.
Build supportive relationships with residents to promote self-esteem, engagement, and well-being.
Prepare activity rooms and areas for scheduled programs.
Clean up and restore activity areas once programs are completed.
Move, arrange and organize equipment and supplies to ensure areas are ready for use.
Assist with decorating, setting up materials for residents.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous Experience In Activities Preferred.
Able to read and write.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to assist with helping residents back to their rooms.
Compassionate, Patient, and able to create a positive environment for residents.
