About the Role
The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for performing various quality control tasks related to architectural precast concrete components. This role involves testing, inspections, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards, including PCI.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control Testing & Inspections:
- Perform daily plastic concrete tests and compressive strength testing on hardened concrete specimens.
- Conduct pre-pour and post-pour inspections of precast products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Perform prestressing inspection tasks and ensure that all products are marked accurately.
- Operate multiple pieces of construction tools and equipment used in testing precast concrete manufacturing.
- Perform daily maintenance, cleaning and safety checks on testing equipment to ensure smooth operation.
- Clean, lubricate and refill equipment as necessary to maintain operational efficiency.
- Maintain clear and precise record-keeping in compliance with ACI, PCI, DOT and company requirements.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain all required QC documentation and any other state or customer-required documentation.
- Manage department records, including product inspection documentation and reports.
- Prepare and analyze department reports to track quality and ensure adherence to standards.
- Ensure that all plant certifications and QC plans are up to date and properly maintained.
- Follow established company rules, regulations, and safety procedures in all tasks.
Team Support & Training:
- Schedule personnel to meet workload demands and customer requirements.
- Train new department employees, including those in plant operations.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure quality standards are met in a timely and efficient manner.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure work is performed safely and efficiently, adhering to safety protocols and company ethics.
- Understand and comply with the company’s Code of Ethics, applying it to daily work situations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- ACI Level I Certification.
- 2 years of documented experience in precast concrete quality control.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and formulas.
- Experience with quality control documentation and state/customer-specific record-keeping requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deal with changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage inspection documentation and ensure accuracy.
- Experience in scheduling personnel to meet production and customer demands.
Preferred:
- ACI Strength Testing Technician.
- ACI Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) Testing Technician.
- PQS Level I or ACPA Q Cast equivalent training program.
- NPCA Certification preferred.
- Experience in either manufacturing or field testing/inspection.
- Ability to read and understand production drawings.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, or squatting.
