Job Overview
Prime Companies is seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Operator / Foreman to join our growing team. This dual-role position requires both hands-on operation of heavy machinery and leadership over excavation and land clearing crews. The ideal candidate has a solid background in sitework, grading, trenching, and excavation, along with the ability to manage job sites, delegate tasks, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.
This position plays a critical role across a variety of residential, commercial, and land development projects throughout the Burnett County, WI area.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, loaders, and compactors.
- Oversee and coordinate crew activities on excavation, land clearing, and site prep projects.
- Read and interpret site plans, grades, and blueprints to ensure precise execution.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance of equipment.
- Ensure work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with project specs and timelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site by enforcing safety protocols and company procedures.
- Communicate regularly with project managers and other foremen to ensure seamless project flow.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or excavation setting.
- Prior experience as a crew lead or foreman strongly preferred.
- Ability to read grade stakes, site plans, and use laser or GPS grading tools.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct crew members.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professionalism on the job site.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record (CDL - Class A required).
