SUMMARY
The Aircraft Painter DOT is specialized in applying paint and other coatings to aircraft exteriors, working meticulously to adhere to specific design patterns and color schemes as per airline or manufacturer specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of various painting techniques and the ability to work with different materials, ensuring durability and resistance to environmental factors. You must also comply with strict safety and environmental guidelines, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Additionally, this position often involves preparing surfaces for painting, performing minor repairs, and conducting quality inspections to ensure a high standard of finish.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting, including sanding, cleaning, and masking
- Apply primer and paint to aircraft exteriors according to specified color schemes and designs
- Utilize various painting equipment such as sprayers and brushes to achieve desired finishes
- Ensure paint applications meet thickness and quality standards
- Mix and match paints to achieve exact color requirements
- Work with design teams to understand and implement custom paint jobs
- Inspect painted aircraft for any imperfections or inconsistencies
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Manage and properly dispose of all hazardous materials
- Keep accurate records of paint supplies, inventory, and maintenance of painting equipment
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for aircraft availability and scheduling
- Stay updated on new painting techniques and materials in the aviation industry
- Employing problem solving abilities for issue resolution
- Maintain records of cleaning activities and schedules
- Provide leadership and direction to the aircraft cleaning teams, fostering a positive work environment
- Provide exceptional attention to detail to ensure all areas of the aircraft are impeccably cleaner
- Ensure the team follows environmental guidelines for waste disposal and chemical use
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all cleaning activities
- Document completed detailing tasks and report any issues or irregularities
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and goals
- Perform minor repairs on aircraft surfaces as needed before painting
- Working under pressure to meet internal and external targets or deadlines
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for any special cleaning needs
- Assist in training new staff in aircraft detailing procedures and standards
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely completion of painting projects
- Possessing strong interpersonal skills for relationship building
- Follow all DOT regulations
- Exemplify PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- 1 year of aircraft painting experience
- Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
- Ability to pass a DOT background check and drug screen
- Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
- Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
