What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Prime Accounting Advisory?
Opening is Available in our Baton Rouge or our New Orleans Office
About Prime
Prime Accounting & Advisory is a financial partner built for hospitality operators. We serve restaurants, bars, and multi-unit operators who need more than a bookkeeper and less than a full-time CFO. Our job is to handle the numbers so our clients can focus on what they built.
We are building toward being the best hospitality financial partner in the country. This hire is the foundation of that build. We are looking for people who hold themselves to a high standard because that is who they are — not because someone is checking. And we are looking for people who think about the next person, not just the current task.
The Role
We need a senior accountant who owns the close process — end to end. A portfolio of hospitality clients. Financials delivered each period that are advisory-ready without additional review.
This is not a data-entry role. You are the last set of eyes before these numbers go in front of a client. You reconcile accounts, apply judgment on accruals and hospitality-specific line items, and hand off financials the principal can take directly into an advisory meeting.
We run on a four-week period cycle. Close is when the most important work happens and we treat it that way — working through the numbers together, preparing for advisory meetings, staying close to each client's story.
The judgment you develop here — how you handle a hospitality-specific accrual, what you notice that others miss, how you work through a reconciliation that does not immediately tie — becomes part of how this firm builds its capability over time. The best people here do not just close books. They make the process better for whoever comes after them.
The Work
▪ Own the period close for a portfolio of hospitality clients — beginning to end.
▪ Reconcile bank accounts, POS systems, credit card processors, and payroll against the books.
▪ Identify and resolve variances. Not flag them — resolve them.
▪ Apply consistent, well-reasoned accrual treatment across clients.
▪ Deliver balance sheet reviews, flash reports, and period financials ready for an advisory meeting.
▪ Communicate when something looks off — before it becomes a problem.
▪ Make the close process better. Leave it in better shape than you found it.
Who We Need
▪ Four to seven years of accounting experience with real ownership of the close output
▪ Hospitality experience. Restaurants, bars, hotels, multi-unit operators. You know how POS systems work, how tips flow, how food and beverage COGS should behave.
▪ Fluent in QuickBooks Online. Comfortable integrating and reconciling POS data.
▪ A sharp eye for anomalies. You notice when a number does not fit the pattern before anyone asks.
▪ CPA or CPA candidate preferred, not required.
▪ Self-directed. You own your close schedule. You hold yourself accountable to it.
