What are the responsibilities and job description for the MTSS Coordinator position at Primavera Online School?
Position Summary:
The MTSS Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and developing schoolwide Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Work collaboratively across departments to create a schoolwide strategic plan for MTSS in Tiers I, II, and III under all domains (Family & Student Engagement, Social-Emotional Learning & Relationships, Attendance & Intervention Monitoring, Positive Behavioral Supports, Academic Supports, and Basic Needs); facilitating phased and leveled stages of implementation; providing ongoing MTSS implementation guidance and support to MTSS team; coordinate ongoing check-ins between departments to ensure system alignment. The MTSS Coordinator also works collaboratively with administrators, leadership team, and teachers to facilitate implementation of (MTSS).
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring the fidelity of implementation of MTSS at school site, including the identification of students, delivery of Tier II and III interventions, and progress monitoring.
- Lead and facilitate SIT meetings to review student data, discuss interventions, and develop action plans.
- Coordinate with SIT members to ensure follow-up and implementation of intervention plans.
- Maintain records of SIT meetings and student progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective Tier 1, 2, and 3 intervention protocols, problem-solving processes, data-based decision-making, progress monitoring, and communication and collaboration processes among student support teams.
- Monitor and assess the progress of students receiving interventions.
- Utilize data from screenings, assessments, and interventions to inform decisions and improve student outcomes.
- Prepare reports and presentations on the effectiveness of interventions and overall student progress.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
- Coordinate and facilitate MTSS professional development and training for staff.
- Pursues deep understanding of Tier 2 best practices in alignment with the 4 PLC questions to support teachers as needed with the implementation of strong Tier 2 cycles.
- Strategizes with teachers on methods for differentiating and scaffolding core Tier 1 instruction for students not a grade level.
- Serves as a resource for research-based math and reading instruction, assessments, and interventions.
- Maintains expertise in MTSS processes, evidence-based reading and math interventions, and assessments.
- Assists staff and teams with understanding adolescent development and how it affects learning and behavior.
- Oversee 45-day screeners and monitors process to ensure they are being completed per state requirements.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with families, staff, and community members.
- Coordinate and implement the child find procedures required by district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and interventions.
- Provide regular updates to school leadership on the status of MTSS initiatives.

Job Specific Skills/Abilities:
- Perform decision analysis that requires the application and interpretation of data, facts, procedures, and policies
- Work with online systems and technology
- Implement research, collect and analyze data, and report preparation
- Suggest appropriate and effective interventions for pupils from a diverse population
- Analyzes data on a weekly basis to make sure students are properly identified for Tier II and Tier III as well as makes sure student progress is documented and reviewed within PLCs
- Knowledge of the MTSS framework that includes Positive Behavior Interventions, positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), response to intervention (RTI), social-emotional learning (SEL), restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and family engagement
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid Arizona teaching certificate with English/reading or mathematics approved areas
- SEI endorsement
- Three or more years of successful teaching experience
- Current valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Experience in online education preferred
- Must be able to work onsite in Chandler, AZ
