Position Summary:
The General Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing the activities of multiple distribution crews, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and regulations. This role involves coordinating crew activities, supervising Distribution Crew Foremen, and working closely with the Distribution Supervisor to develop skills in project coordination, safety compliance, and crew leadership. The General Foreman serves as a key link between the crews and the Distribution Supervisor, ensuring smooth operations and the successful execution of projects.

Essential Functions:
Leadership and Supervision: Provide guidance and direction to Distribution Crew Foremen and their teams, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
Project Coordination: Assist in planning, organizing, and overseeing multiple distribution projects, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet project deadlines and goals.
Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce safety protocols and best practices across all distribution job sites. Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and audits to maintain a safe work environment.
Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of work performed by distribution crews, ensuring compliance with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Address any discrepancies or issues promptly.
Resource Management: Assist in managing equipment, tools, materials, and personnel to support efficient project execution. Report any resource-related issues or constraints to the Distribution Supervisor.
Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, time spent, and any issues encountered. Provide regular updates to the Distribution Supervisor on project progress and challenges.
Problem Solving: Identify and address any problems or obstacles encountered during project execution, implementing solutions to keep the project on track.
Communication: Serve as a liaison between Distribution Crew Foremen, crew members, and the Distribution Supervisor, ensuring clear communication of project objectives, updates, and feedback.
Training and Development: Mentor Distribution Crew Foremen and crew members, assisting with their training and development to ensure a high level of competency within the team.
Continuous Improvement: Work with the Distribution Supervisor to identify opportunities for operational improvements, cost savings, and increased efficiency within the distribution operations.
Position Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
Valid Class A CDL required
Completion of an accredited lineman apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
Experience & Skills:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in distribution operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and work orders.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in distribution operations.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR) preferred.
Work Environment:
This position operates primarily outdoors at various transmission job sites, requiring exposure to different weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow. The role involves working at heights on transmission towers, around high-voltage electrical systems, and in rugged terrain, making safety awareness and adherence to protocols essential. Frequent travel between job sites is required.
