Pay: $32.00 - $37.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.
Description:
The Engineering Technologist II provides technical support for electric distribution projects by assisting with service design, project coordination, and customer-facing activities. This role serves as a key point of contact for customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate new service requests and distribution system improvements. The successful candidate will apply utility construction knowledge, perform field evaluations, utilize design tools and spreadsheets, and support project execution while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design and coordination of electric distribution service projects.
- Gather and validate project information from customers, contractors, electricians, and field personnel.
- Utilize established design tools, spreadsheets, and work management systems to determine project requirements, equipment sizing, and material needs.
- Perform field visits to assess site conditions and support project development.
- Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and external customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Create and maintain project documentation, records, and system data within company applications.
- Support design activities and work order development using utility design and asset management systems.
- Provide professional, customer-focused communication while resolving questions and addressing service-related concerns.
- Ensure designs and project activities comply with company standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical field; OR equivalent combination of education and relevant utility experience.
- 2 years of experience in utility operations, electric distribution, construction, field operations, engineering support, or a related technical environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact directly with customers, contractors, and field personnel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Ability to learn utility design processes, work management systems, and engineering tools.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field locations as required.
- Experience in electric utility distribution, line construction, or field operations.
- Previous experience as a lineworker, utility field technician, construction coordinator, or similar role.
- Familiarity with utility work management and asset management systems such as Maximo.
- Knowledge of electric distribution system components and construction practices.
- Experience working directly with customers, contractors, and developers.
- Strong customer service mindset.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Practical problem-solving and sound judgment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently after training.
- Collaborative team player who contributes to a productive work environment.
- Ability to balance technical responsibilities with customer-facing interactions.
