The Work Order Dispatcher will coordinate field service activity by receiving, routing, monitoring, and balancing work orders for technicians. This role serves as an important connection between field personnel, customers, call center teams, and supervisors, using SAP or mobile dispatching technology to keep work moving efficiently. The position requires availability for a Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM CT schedule plus rotating weekends.
Responsibilities
- Receive and dispatch non-emergency work orders supporting daily and emergency field operations.
- Monitor, route, update, and document work orders assigned to service technicians.
- Balance technician workloads and review backlogged work to support efficient field operations.
- Dispatch work through mobile data and dispatching systems.
- Coordinate scheduling and operational requirements between field personnel, customers, call center representatives, and supervisors.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts and adjust work assignments based on changing operational needs.
- Perform call-ahead requests and communicate directly with technicians and customers regarding field activity.
- Maintain accurate work order status and documentation throughout the dispatch process.
- Respond to requests for operational and work order information.
- Support communication with state and local governmental agencies during emergency situations.
- Prioritize changing workloads while maintaining timely communication across multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of dispatching experience required, preferably supporting field service, utilities, technicians, transportation, or operations.
- 1 year of experience with SAP or a mobile data dispatching system required.
- Experience monitoring, routing, scheduling, updating, and closing work orders.
- Gas distribution operations experience preferred.
- Experience communicating with customers, call centers, field technicians, supervisors, and internal operational teams.
- Ability to manage changing schedules, work priorities, and multiple active work orders.
- Availability to work Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM CT plus rotating weekend shifts required.
