Primary Services is excited to announce the role of Network Installation Technician-Data Center for a large telecommunications organization. This position offers the chance to leverage your technical experience in network installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting while supporting a broad network of customers and internal teams. The role requires both hands-on field work and collaboration with engineering, vendors, and building management to ensure reliable, high-performance network services.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain network switches, UPS systems, and related infrastructure in data centers and customer premises.
- Troubleshoot L1/L2 network issues, resolve active trouble tickets, and support escalations from internal teams.
- Conduct OTDR and JDSU/RFC testing to verify fiber integrity and network performance.
- Provide onsite support to fiber contractors and field technicians, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and standards.
- Perform installation, optimization, and preventative maintenance for network hardware (routers, switches, power systems).
- Analyze network coverage, latency, and throughput, providing recommendations to engineering for design and performance improvements.
- Maintain data center environment, including cabling, grounding, and equipment racks, to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Support multi-vendor interconnects and assist in integrating carrier hardware across LAN/WAN environments.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of IPv4/IPv6, Ethernet, WAN, and LAN networks.
- Understanding of routing configuration, IP routing tables, gateway connections, data communications, and digital communication systems.
- Willingness to work overtime and accept on-call assignments regularly.
- Experience with project management preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record.
