Primary Services is excited to announce the Collections Specialist role for a large, established client in the telecommunications industry. This position supports residential and small commercial accounts by ensuring timely service disconnects, reconnects, and balance transfers in accordance with regulatory and internal policy requirements. The Collections Specialist plays a critical role in monitoring automated processes, analyzing account activity, and resolving system exceptions using SAP-based platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily proactive collection calls and written correspondence to secure payment commitments and meet monthly cash targets.
- Negotiate payment arrangements and settlements with past-due customers in alignment with credit policy guidelines.
- Monitor Accounts Receivable Aging reports daily to identify and address at-risk accounts.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations to resolve discrepancies, short-pays, and unapplied payments.
- Coordinate with internal departments to resolve billing errors and service-related disputes impacting payment delays.
- Evaluate customer creditworthiness based on payment behavior and recommend credit limit adjustments or COD status when appropriate.
- Process credit card payments over the phone and provide wire transfer instructions to facilitate immediate payment.
- Manage credit hold statuses, including review and release of orders based on real-time payment activity.
- Review and process credit term requests and changes based on financial risk assessment and payment history.
- Maintain accurate and chronological records of all collection activity within ERP/CRM systems.
- Identify trends in delinquency and provide feedback on process improvements to reduce future risk exposure.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding delinquent accounts and escalation risks.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in credit and collections or accounts receivable analysis.
- Experience using ERP systems with Accounts Receivable modules.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in spreadsheet applications for reporting and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of AR aging analysis, reconciliations, and credit control processes.
- Experience processing electronic payments, including credit card and wire transactions.
- Familiarity with credit review processes and financial risk evaluation methods.
