Front Office Receptionist
Job Summary:
Open and close office, count cash box. Answer all incoming calls, make appointments appropriately for patients, greet and check in patients as they arrive, check all patients out, fax medical records to non-practice patients’ physicians, collect payments and co-payments. Set up follow-up appointments and maintain doctor schedule, page on call providers and lab techs, pick up intake sheets, train new hired employees, attend scheduled meetings, complete self-evaluations yearly.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Phone
- Make, confirm, and cancel appointments appropriately
- Take messages, create tasks in EEHR, and deliver to the appropriate people
- Prepare paperwork for today and next day’s appointments
- Check and send faxes to non-practice physicians
Greeter
- Print intake forms for the day's appointments and WIT
- Create new accounts, scan photo ID’s and new insurance cards, send task to billing office check in patients, and assist with any new patient paperwork & Phreesia tablets if needed
- Update demographic and insurance information, check eligibility
- Inform nurse of patient arrival
Cashier
- Check balances, Collect co-pays, payments or past due amounts
- Make follow-up appointments
- Run confirming for the following day for non PCP pt.
- Confirm batch with Charge nurse
- Count and balance cash box
End of shift and decrease census
- Check e-mails and copy all paperwork supply for next day
- Clean work area
- Straighten magazines’ in the reception area
- Secure DOCS for closing
- Turn over phones
Experience:
Must have phone skills and pleasant phone voice; customer service oriented; some computer skills, able to multi-task; perform well under pressure; able to work at a fast pace. Medical office experience helpful.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma
Working Conditions:
This position works primarily seated at a desk in a well-lighted, ventilated area. Significant phone work, some walking around the office with some light lifting
