Position Summary
Primary Care Associates of Hagerstown is a busy adult primary care practice seeking a professional, dependable, and compassionate Medical Assistant (Bilingual preferred) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine commitment to providing excellent patient care.
The Medical Assistant must be self-motivated, dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to effectively prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced medical office environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with providers and staff to ensure patients receive efficient, respectful, and high-quality care.
Essential Clinical Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Room patients and obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medications, and other relevant clinical information.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Administer injections and other medications as directed and within scope of practice.
- Perform EKGs and other clinical testing as assigned.
- Assist providers with examinations and procedures as needed.
- Process and transmit prescription requests accurately and in a timely manner.
- Triage clinical phone calls appropriately and communicate clear, accurate messages to providers and clinical staff.
- Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record.
- Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked examination rooms and clinical areas.
- Monitor and maintain adequate medical and clinical supplies.
- Demonstrate excellent documentation skills and consistently maintain attention to detail.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and all applicable clinical and practice policies.
- Provide patients with professional, courteous, and compassionate service.
- Work cooperatively and respectfully with providers and all members of the practice team.
Administrative Duties
The Medical Assistant will also perform administrative responsibilities, which may include:
- Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments.
- Processing prior authorizations and referrals.
- Sorting, reviewing, and appropriately routing incoming faxes.
- Completing and processing medical forms and other patient paperwork.
- Communicating with patients, pharmacies, specialists, laboratories, and other healthcare providers as needed.
- Supporting the overall administrative and clinical operations of the practice.
