Job Summary:
The Engineering Internship at Primary Aimline LLC offers hands-on experience supporting the design, development, and testing of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) and related technologies. Working alongside experienced engineers, interns will apply core engineering principles to real-world defense projects, contribute to modeling and simulation efforts, and help improve mechanical, electrical, and aerodynamic systems. This role provides the opportunity to strengthen technical, communication, and teamwork skills while gaining exposure to industry tools, standards, and professional engineering practices. This paid internship runs for 12 weeks, with an expected start date of January 26, 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the full product lifecycle—from concept development to prototype design—of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS).
- Support modeling and simulation efforts to evaluate system performance and optimize designs.
- Assist in reviewing, testing, and improving new and existing products, including airborne and maritime gimbals, servos, and other electro-mechanical systems.
- Provide hands-on design support in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering based on your academic background and interests.
- Participate in aerodynamic design and analysis for the Tan Hawk program.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Prior internship or project experience in engineering design, systems integration, or manufacturing.
- Exposure to systems engineering principles or model-based engineering.
- Familiarity with defense industry standards or interest in government contracting.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Must be located in Tucson, AZ.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering.
- Rising junior or senior (expected graduation in 2026 or 2027).
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
