What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Priefert MFG?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform buying duties when necessary.
- Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
- Compare suppliers' bills with bids and purchase orders to verify accuracy.
- Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.
- Review requisition orders to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.
- Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, ordering more materials when necessary.
- Calculate costs of orders, and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts.
- Maintain knowledge of all organizational rules affecting purchases and provide information about these rules to organization staff members and to vendors.
- Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.

- Monitor in-house inventory movement and complete inventory transfer forms for bookkeeping purposes.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, coworkers, and persons outside of organization.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Some college preferred.
- Maintains composure in stressful situations.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This job operated in a clerical, office setting and is a largely sedentary role. However, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. May be necessary to walk about to accomplish tasks.
