Pride Health is hiring a Surgical Coordinator to support our client’s medical facility based in Manhattan, NY – 10029. This is a 3 -month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Job Title: Surgical Coordinator
Location: New York, NY 10029
Pay Range: $18/hr to $20.00/hr
Shift: Days, (9:00 AM to 5:00 AM)
Duration: 3 Months of assignment with a strong possibility of extension
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all Operating Room (OR) surgeries and procedures to ensure efficient scheduling and workflow.
- Monitor front office operations and adjust workflows as needed to optimize service delivery.
- Verify patient demographics and obtain pre-certification from insurance carriers for all OR surgeries and procedures.
- Obtain medical clearance from appropriate providers prior to surgery.
- Address and resolve patient issues and inquiries related to policies and procedures.
- Place surgical confirmation calls one day prior to scheduled surgeries or procedures.
- Schedule post-operative follow-up visits with providers.
- Act as liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for communication of clinical data and OR scheduling coordination.
- Train and mentor new or less experienced Surgical Scheduling Coordinators and staff.
- Collect, prepare, and distribute necessary documentation to internal departments and external partners involved in surgical coordination.
- Record hospital reservations and pre-admission data in the CERNER electronic medical record system.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Required Education:
- High School diploma.
Preferred Education:
- Associate’s degree.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- None.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- Certificate in Medical Technology.
- Certificate in ICD-9 coding.
- Certificate in CPT coding.
