Pride Health is hiring a Histotech I to support our client’s medical facility based in Houston, TX. This is a 49-week assignment and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Job Title: Histotech
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: 49 Weeks
Schedule: 5x8 hrs Evening (3AM – 11:30AM M-F)
Pay Range: $1500 - $ 1692 Weekly gross DOE
*Pay rate is based on years of experience and educational qualifications.
Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician to perform routine and non-routine activities in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in histotechnology and be capable of executing all duties and responsibilities associated with Histotechnician I and II roles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accession and label all tissue samples accurately.
- Process associated paperwork for accessioning and reporting.
- Ensure proper tissue processing and embedding in paraffin.
- Perform microtomy of embedded tissue and prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.
- Conduct coverslipping of stained slides, both manually and with automated systems.
- Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures and validate tissue for special stains.
- Perform all special stain procedures as required.
- May prepare solutions and reagents for IHC procedures and validate control material for IHC testing.
- Maintain and file finished blocks and slides, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, troubleshooting minor issues as they arise.
- Document remedial actions such as repairs or repeated tests.
- Provide training and guidance to Histotechnicians, students, and lab aides.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities.
Qualifications:
- Previous histotech background required.
- Experienced in basic embedding, microtomy and staining techniques
- HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) cert required
