SUMMARY

The Crew Leader / Foreman is responsible for managing efficient and professional roofing installations and the team assigned to those projects, by providing oversight, ensuring worker safety, communicating with the client, providing leadership and direction to the roofing crews.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

In general:

  • Restoring, removing and replacing various roof systems.
  • Maintaining professional interaction with all customers and crew members.
  • Managing a crew of roof mechanics and laborers throughout installation, repair, or

removal projects.

  • Supervising equipment use, inspections, and vehicle maintenance, including cleaning trucks & trailers, & maintaining working equipment.
  • Tracking and reporting progress using provided forms and/or software programs.
  • Ensuring project specifications are followed.
  • Reviewing employee timesheets.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
  • Cleaning work area upon completion of each project.
  • Filling out all forms provided by Operations Manager and returning in a timely manner.
  • Minimizing Worker's Compensation claims through training, observation, and safety.
  • Understanding all Company policies and procedures, ensuring that employees are in compliance.
  • Work Schedule is determined by assigned work group or seasonal demand; normally 5 X 9 day/hour scheduled workweek; may include some weekends.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The supervision of staffers, primarily project crews, is a requirement for this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of roofing experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Proficiency in the use of roofing tools and equipment.
  • Excellent understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a team and delegate tasks effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and quality control
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time on a regular basis throughout the day.
  • Must be able to frequently ascend/descend ladders up to 40 feet.
  • Must be able to remain in a standing position for an extended period of time.
  • Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work in varied extreme weather conditions (extreme hot and extreme cold weather).
  • Load and unload material and equipment from variant heights.
  • Load material and equipment from vehicles on and off the roof.
  • Lift heavy objects by hand or with a host and clean work area.
  • Shovel loose materials such as gravel, sand, metal, snow or dirt.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Job sites may include multi-story buildings, with stairs.
  • Work may be performed inside, as well as outside, of buildings.
  • Roofing will be conducted on buildings of varied heights.
  • Normally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Starting salary of $65,000 - $85,000;
  • Medical, Dental, Vision = employer-paid is not offered at this time;
  • Paid Time Off = after one (1) year of employment, one (1) week of paid time off, with incremental increases with tenure; and
  • Paid Holidays = New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The Employee may be asked to work on any unpaid holiday at an increased rate of pay, if customers and work situations require.
