Medical Service Technician

What You’ll Do

As a Medical Services Technician, your main focus is to promote the growth, well-being, and autonomy of the individuals you support. You’ll get to know each person, understand their preferences, and help them maintain control over their own lives. This includes:

• Building rapport and supporting individuals in making decisions that reflect their needs and preferences.
• Serving as an alternate on the Behavior Support and Human Rights Committee when needed, helping ensure fair treatment and due process.
• Assisting individuals in scheduling, maintaining, and attending routine medical appointments to help ensure their best possible health.
• Completing Open Consultation Medical Referral forms in the electronic record-keeping system.
• Maintaining and updating the appointment tickler system and providing supervisors with reminders.
• Compiling a monthly schedule of all upcoming appointments and routing referrals appropriately.
• Tracking referrals to ensure they return to the agency and updating the tickler system accordingly.
• Providing nurses with monthly lists of individuals scheduled for annual exams so all medical information stays current.
• Participating in staff meetings, attending in-service trainings, and continuing your own professional development through reading, workshops, and classes.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma required; two years of college preferred.

Experience

• Experience in the human services field is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to implement physical restraints and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must have a valid ND driver's license with clean driving record.

Pay: $19.00 - $24.55 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
