Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in various healthcare settings and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients. This role requires a blend of personal care skills, medical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Duties
- Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
- Help with mobility and transfer assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in condition.
- Document patient care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support clients in meal preparation and dietary needs while ensuring proper nutrition.
- Assist with basic medical tasks including vital signs monitoring, catheter care, and phlebotomy when necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to aseptic techniques when required.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function, especially for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Requirements
- Proven experience in caregiving or healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, documentation practices, and EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Cerner, eClinicalWorks).
- Knowledge of critical care practices including acute care, ICU experience, and hospice care is highly desirable.
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or require memory care is a plus.
- Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy to provide effective patient care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare providers.
