Pride Health is hiring a Overnight Histotechnician (Traveler) to support our client’s medical facility in Grand Rapids MI 49503. This is 4-month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity, and it's a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Job Title: Overnight Histotechnician (Traveler)
Location: Grand Rapids MI 49503
Duration: 4 Months /Likely to convert to FT based on performance
Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 9 pm-5:30 am (40hr/week)
Pay Package: -
Gross weekly pay: 2100/weekly (before taxes)
Taxable: 640/weekly (16*40)
Non-Taxable: 1460/weekly (includes meals and housing)
To be eligible for the traveler pay for this role candidates must be above 50 miles from the work location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists following established laboratory procedures.
- Process paperwork related to specimen accessioning and reporting.
- Ensure proper tissue processing and specimen handling.
- Perform embedding and microtomy for select specimen types under the supervision of the Histology Manager/Supervisor.
- Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining.
- Perform manual or automated cover slipping of stained slides.
- Perform special stains as approved by the Histology Manager/Supervisor.
- Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment.
- File and organize complete tissue blocks and slides.
- Follow laboratory quality control policies and document QC activities.
- Ensure compliance with corporate safety, quality assurance, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree (A.A./A.S.) with at least 1 year of histology experience within the last 10 years, OR
- High School diploma/equivalent with 5 years of full-time Histotechnician experience within the last 10 years.
- HT (ASCP) certification or ASCP eligibility preferred, or equivalent full-time experience in the last 10 years.
