What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Technician position at Pride Health?
Position Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the efficient processing, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and devices throughout the hospital. This role ensures all instrumentation is cleaned, disinfected, assembled, sterilized, and maintained in accordance with manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), infection prevention standards, and hospital policies to support safe patient care.
Shift: Evening 2:30 PM to 11 PM Monday to Friday
Required Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of a wide variety of surgical instrumentation used in the operating room and throughout the hospital.
- Proficiency in:
- Steam sterilization systems
- EO sterilization systems
- Low-temperature sterilization systems
- Washer/disinfector operations
- Ultrasonic cleaners
- Biological and chemical indicator testing
- Ability to operate sterilization and processing equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently with consistent supervision.
- Attention to detail and commitment to infection prevention and patient safety standards.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of sterile processing or central sterile experience required.
Education & Certification Requirements
Required Certification (One of the Following)
- CRCST – Certified Registered Central Service Technician issued by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM/HSPA)
OR
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) issued by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
