RN - Behavioral Health Adult Inpatient

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health (Adult Inpatient) for a travel assignment. In this role, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to adult inpatient behavioral health patients while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have strong behavioral health experience, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric nursing assessments on admission, during hospitalization, and at discharge.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses in accordance with established protocols.
• Complete and document required psychiatric assessments and screenings in the EMR (including suicide risk, elopement risk, withdrawal assessments, and behavioral evaluations).
• Monitor patient safety and maintain a secure, therapeutic inpatient environment.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning, patient rounds, and care conferences.
• Facilitate or co-lead patient education and therapeutic group sessions.
• Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice, including vital signs, EKGs, IV insertion, and phlebotomy.
• Collaborate with ancillary staff to support patient care, crisis intervention, and safety precautions.
• Educate patients and families while promoting recovery-focused care.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) from an accredited nursing program (required).
• Active New York State RN License with NYSED Primary Source Verification (required).
• AHA BLS Certification (required).
• Minimum 2 years of Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health/Psychiatric RN experience.
• Strong experience with psychiatric patient assessments, medication administration, EMR documentation, and behavioral health nursing care.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, crisis intervention, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced inpatient psychiatric setting while maintaining patient safety and therapeutic care.

Important Details:

• 14-week contract position
• Shift is 12 hrs/days or nights (both shifts are available), 36 hrs/week
• Timing for Days: 7:30 AM-8:00 PM
• Timing for Nights: 7:30 PM-8:00 AM
• Location is Brooklyn, NY 11206
• Pay Rate for Locals: $64 - $67 Hourly
• Pay Rate for Travelers: $2,700 - $2,750 Weekly
