Job Summary:
Medical Laboratory Technologist – Key Responsibilities (Shortened)
- Perform specimen collection, processing, and high-complexity testing per SOPs.
- Review, verify, and release test results with accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and document QC, QA, calibrations, and instrument maintenance.
- Follow all CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot testing issues and escalate when needed.
- Report STAT and critical values promptly.
- Keep complete testing/reagent records and maintain a clean, inspection-ready workspace.
- Participate in training, competencies, meetings, and inspections.
- Support coworkers and handle internal/customer inquiries as needed.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of lab testing, QC/QA, and regulatory standards.
- Proficient with LIS and multiple computer systems.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and work collaboratively.
- Strong communication and commitment to patient confidentiality.
Education
- BS in Medical Technology or related science (Biology/Chemistry).
- IERF evaluation for foreign degrees; official transcripts required.
- MT/MLT certification (ASCP/AMT) preferred or eligibility required.
- Minimum 1-year clinical lab experience (high-complexity preferred).
- State/national licensure where applicable.
